Puppies and kittens need to begin their initial vaccination series at six to eight weeks of age. They will receive two to four vaccinations at monthly intervals for several infectious bacterial and viral diseases including; parvovirus, distemper, feline leukemia, rabies and others. Many of these diseases are life threatening. A puppy or kitten is not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after it has received its final set of vaccinations.
Veterinarians are specially trained to help owners decide which vaccinations are needed for each pet in its particular circumstance and stage of life. We use the most effective and safest vaccines available. Vaccines purchased from feed stores, on-line pharmacies and other sources may be of questionable quality and do not have the support of a veterinarian in the event that a dangerous reaction occurs.
